Here is the basic citation guidelines,Purdue OWL and APA style guide can offer help for specific items

• Author's last name (comma)
• Author's first name inital (period)
• Author's middle inital (period)

Example: John Doe Smith would be Smith, J. D.   

• Captalize the first word of a title and subtitle
• Italicize titles of longer works (books, edited collections, newpapers, etc.)

• Author's name
• (Publication year) (period)
• Title (period)
